Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial)


Role Summary

As a leading world-leading material handling solution provider, MHS responds to a wide range of challenges. As Legal Counsel based in Europe you advise MHS international operation on complex legal issues and you identify contractual risks and opportunities in support of the business. You are versatile, know how to quickly understand legal issues and, based on your experience, you come up with suitable and practical legal advice. In your role as Legal Counsel you work closely together with legal team in the US and report to the Legal Director.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Legal counseling of tender processes by, among others, assessing tender documents from pre-qualification up to and including contract negotiations;
  • Legal guidance of (sub-)contract negotiations for projects in the implementation phase;
  • Support the business in complying with internal rules and processes;
  • Active management of external law firms;
  • Assist legal proceedings;
  • Identify and follow up relevant legal developments .


Skills, knowledge and experience 

You have a proactive attitude and thrive in a complex and dynamic working environment. Fast switching between issues is no problem for you. Based on your personality you are able to quickly build up an internal network. Needless to say you have affinity with a project oriented environment and in particular with MHS projects.

You are assertive, creative, a team player, stress-resistant and flexible and also have:

 Master's degree in law;

  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience as a company lawyer or lawyer, preferably in a multinational working environment;
  • Sound business acumen; ability to provide practical and creative solutions; understand legal issues from both the legal and business perspective;
  • Knowledge of project oriented contracts;
  • A customer-oriented attitude and ability to communicate easily with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding work environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities;
  • Excellent command of both the Dutch and English language and fluency in German language is a plus;
  • A spirit of entrepreneurship and willingness to step out of the “box”
  • Willingness to travel abroad.
